The Air Body Dryer has been in for a couple of weeks now and after taking a couple of days to work it out, it is running perfectly.
It has two speeds and takes approximately 4 minutes to dry a body. The machine is easy to use through an air switch which can be located on the floor or wall and you turn the machine on when you get in the shower then advance to the 2nd speed for drying. It is simple enough for a child to use. It is safe providing it is properly installed by a qualified electrician and, is easy to clean! The biggest advantage, I see, is the Body Dryer enables a disabled person to hold on to their independence and dignity.
My husband, who has suffered with Parkinson’s Disease for the past 26 years, can now dry and dress himself. Previously, unless I assisted him, he wore wet clothes for half an hour. The time was fast approaching when I would no longer be able to cope with my husband and I would have had to look at the local DHB to send a Carer into the house for half an hour to shower, dry and dress my husband. That time window has now been pushed back quite a long way, a big saving for the DHB and he would be only one of many they attend to. For me, as a full time Carer, the biggest advantage is the time saved. Every minute of my day is precious and if I can save even 5 minutes through eliminating one job I am happy. With the Body Dryer I eliminate 3 of my usual jobs. There is the saving of not having to dry and dress my husband, washing towels, and cleaning down the shower frame (this is done while drying the body). An added bonus is the elimination of running a heated towel rail and heater, thereby reducing the cost of the monthly power bill.
Providing a Carer through the DHB is costly and is paid from their already diminishing budget. The amount that could be saved through the installation of these machines would be enormous and allow that cost to be used in other important areas. I would like to see the Ministry of Health subsidise these machines and give other persons with disabilities, and their Carers, the opportunity to take advantage of all the savings it provides. Not only in the home of a disabled but also in Rest Homes and Hospitals. The machines target areas are endless.
Having had one of your hot air dryers installed for fifteen months
I thought I would write to say what a boon it is to my wife who is severely disabled with rheumatoid arthritis.
I always use the drier myself, and when away in a hotel for a few days recently, I found it a real nuisance to have to use a towel to get dried after a shower. Thank you for inventing and marketing such a useful appliance.
We will not be able to install the air Dryer until we move into the new house but it will be an absolute godsend for Oliver.
He still has problems with co-ordination and balance as a result of his injuries and drying himself after having a shower can be difficult. I like to say a huge thank you to Matthew – he approached us out of the goodness of his heart and it is such a nice gesture.
I use none of my energy to get dry
To dry myself I just press a small rubber switch with my toes, and really enjoyed the sensation.
My Apres Shower fits beautifully into a corner of my shower tray, looks very elegant there. It gives me great delight.
Good morning, After purchasing one of your air body dryers I would like to add my testimonial.
After loosing an arm in a tractor accident 18 months ago I found it very hard to dry myself, My wife found the advertisement online for the air body dryer, which we purchased and have had installed. It has made showering so much easier now that I can dry myself properly and my clothes go on much easier now that I am properly dry. I think it is a truly fabulous invention and have had many positive comments from family and friends who have seen it. Thank you, Rita & Peter Sheely, Taumarunui.
DIRECTORS NOTE
Are these Air Body dryers any good?
That is the question that most people will ask if they are looking at purchasing one. There once was an old Advertisement that went something like this; “I liked the Shaver that much I bought the Company”.
This Testimonial is very much in the same line.
Along with my Business Partner, who originally introduced me to these new fandangle Air body Dryers, we were somewhat hooked on these machines & could see the enormous benefit to a large array of people. After setting up a Company to manufacture & Import these Dryers under Licence, we set about introducing this new concept of drying people’s bodies in a Shower/ wet area without the use of a Towel to the public. Progress was slow, sales were few, the minimal sales we had delivered us glowing testimonials from very satisfied customers, & we still do to this day.
After 5 years of continual chest Angina pains & other uncomfortable symptoms, I was recently fortunate enough to receive an emergency call up for Heart By-Pass surgery at Auckland Hospital. Operation went ahead; very successfully I might add, but, the recovery, goodness. From the very 1st shower, with a 250mm wound down the centre of my chest & another down my leg, movement wasn’t on the top of my list. Very, very, painful & difficult to shower & in particular dry oneself even with the grateful help of nursing staff. God, I wish I had the use of one of our Air Body Dryers I thought.
After 5-7 days one is released from Hospital, the day I got home, we, my wife & I, managed to temporary connect up an old Demo model Air Body Dryer in the shower cubicle. I’ll be using that after tomorrow mornings shower I tell my wife. Next morning in the shower, wash myself, wounds & all, right, now follow instructions, 30 secs to a minute before I turn warm water off start dryer, bingo, slow blast of airflow hits me, I dodge to the leeward side of the water flow as I find the airflow a tad cool, within 5 secs I can feel it warming up. Rinsing finished, I hit the switch again and whoosh a strong blast of air hits me. I turned the shower off & again follow instructions rotating myself slowly in a circle. 1st minute, goodness this thing’s not working I can’t feel the “gentle warm breeze” the advertising says, keep slowly rotating. 2nd minute, Aha, I can start to feel “the gentle warm breeze” now it’s getting warmer, keep slowly rotating. 3rd minute, holy macheral, this thing is really putting out some heat, step away a few inches, 4th minute, goodness, I’m nearly dry, no pain, no roughness on the skin, no sense of losing my balance & this” gentle warm breeze” is quite addictive. 5th minute, Man this thing is hot, I’m dry, think I will just rotate move around a bit just to make sure I tell myself.
At this stage I could have switched the dryer off but, nah; I’ll just enjoy another 30secs/minute of the warm air perfect feeling. 6th, 7th or maybe the 8th minute (just joking) I finally turn off dryer. Worst thing of this deal, opening the door of the shower & feeling the autumn cool air hit you. Dress myself smiling, what a clever dick I think to myself.
The Air Body Dryer?
Amazing piece of equipment, my thoughts immediately go to when I was back in Hospital, every ward, every Hospital should have one of these Dryers, especially the Wards that have Patients recovering from surgery or have restricted movement. The comfort & dignity to the patients would be reward enough for the cost outlay.
